SELBY MP John Grogan answered district councillor's questions at the authority's overview and scrutiny committee meeting on Friday.
Concerns were raised about the continued abstraction of Selby's neighbourhood police team to other areas outside the district.

Mr Grogan said he had been told by North Yorkshire Police this was not happening, but Eggborough ward councillor John McCartney revealed the neighbourhood police officer for Eggborough had been abstracted earlier this month to drive a police van in Scarborough.

Mr Grogan agreed to pursue the matter with NYP chiefs.

Questions were also asked about winter fuel payments. Currently, anyone who turns 60 after the September cut-off date is not entitled to financial support until the following winter.

Councillors resolved to advise residents on applying for the winter fuel payment when they received their bus pass at age 60 to ensure fewer people missed out.
