Pocklington Town...............................3
Hemingbrough Utd............................2

HEMINGBROUGH suffered their first defeat of the season as a hugely debatable late penalty gave Pocklington a narrow victory in this eventful East Riding County Cup tie.

The visitors started the brighter as Zacharenko, Wood and Harrison all went close to opening the scoring.

But on 25 minutes, the hosts took the lead as the unfortunate Harrison could only divert a low cross into his own goal. And things got worse when a fierce effort was only parried by Briggs to a Pock attacker, who fired home from close range.

At this stage, Hemingbrough were definitely on the back foot, but the second half was a different story as they began to pass the ball and take control.

Zacharenko's low cross was neatly tucked away by Haythorne after 50 minutes and when Jackson converted a penalty following a handball 15 minutes later, it looked as though another great comeback was on the cards.

However, with ten minutes left on the clock the referee – to the astonishment of both teams – awarded a penalty to the hosts, apparently for a push by Briggs, to restore the home side's advantage.

Still Hemingbrough pushed forward and Wood had a great chance to take the game into extra time, only for him to somehow skew his shot wide of the far post.

Chris Caudwell was the Crown Inn man on the match, with Adie Wood picking up the supporters' vote.

Moor Lane are the visitors to Hull Road on Saturday as league action resumes.

Stillington Reserves.........................2

Hemingbrough United Res.............3

A battling second half display saw the Reserves come from behind to grind out three valuable points in this Reserve C clash.

Playing in blustery conditions, 'Boro started the game the better side and on 15 minutes they got their just rewards as Jonny Falkingham fired home from 18 yards following excellent work from Matt Shipley and Alex Bentley.

This should have provided the platform for Hemingbrough to build on, but they allowed the home side back into the game ten minutes later as the quick Stillington forward lashed the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

And moments later, the visitors were behind as the forward found the back of the net from 20 yards, giving Milburn no chance in goal.

Milburn then conceded a penalty on 40 minutes, but made amends by saving the spot-kick to deny the Stillington forward a first half hat-trick.

Following strong words from manager Mike Young, 'Boro began the second half well and were soon putting pressure on the fragile home defence.

So it was no surprise when the equaliser arrived as Bentley tapped-in at the far post after good work from Hutton.

Hutton was then denied by the keeper but the ball ran loose to Bentley, who kept his composure to give 'Boro the lead on the hour mark.

Good chances fell the way of Oli Falkingham, Tate and Monks, but Hemingbrough couldn't add to their lead.
