After a minute's silence was impeccably observed across the Sandhill Lane pitches to mark Remembrance Sunday, Whitby avenged their Yorkshire Cup defeat as they readily adapted to a northerly gale to inflict Selby's first reversal of the season.
A poor first 20 minutes left Selby chasing the game before finally closing the gap late on. But the seasiders were 17 points up before the Swans contrived a meaningful attack.
Bradley Hunter, back in the side after a three-year hiatus, was on the end of a sweeping move to score in the corner. James Hunt pounced for the second and Josh Cruise flat-footed a tiring defence for the third.
