West Cowick powerlifter Tony Stevenson competed for his county on Saturday in The Roses Cup and came home as part of a victorious team.
The 49-year-old Lodge Lane resident travelled with 11 others to Colne, near Blackburn, to take part in the Lancashire versus Yorkshire event.
He said: "I was originally picked to coach the Yorkshire squad, which is a massive honour, but I ended up lifting on top of that."
