I'VE BROUGHT up the subject of 'free' toilets before, but I applaud P Morrill for bringing it up again and giving such a vivid description – Town going down pan (Selby Times, March 13).

What an advert for Selby town! Plus, having to pay for the use in the bargain as well (modernisation). Fancy visitors coming to Selby on the bus and finding facilities like that.

There was nothing wrong with the old facilities. Those at the back of Wide Street on the car park were always kept in tip-top order by the young chap there.

I think Coun Mark Crane and Coun Ruth Sayner would have been better holding plans for six new public conveniences instead of planning for a one-stop shop that was never needed anyway.

You see, P Morrill, you made another valid point. Both you and I, and many, many others, think what Dransfield wants comes before the needs of Selby town.

So keep voicing your concerns – someone might listen some day!

A Taylor, Hambleton
